Frequently asked
Questions, answered
Do I need a visa for Mozambique?+
Most nationalities can obtain a visa-on-arrival or use the e-visa portal (evisa.gov.mz). South African passport holders no longer require a visa for stays under 30 days. Always check with the Mozambican consulate for your country before travelling.
What's the closest airport?+
Vilankulo Airport (VNX) is just 10 minutes from the lodge. Daily flights connect through Maputo, Johannesburg (Airlink) and seasonally from Cape Town. We arrange complimentary airport transfers for guests on LAM and Airlink flights.
When is the best time to visit?+
April to November is the dry season — sunny days, warm sea, low humidity. October to December is whale shark season. December to March is hot and lush, with occasional warm tropical rain. The lodge is open year-round.
Do you accept credit cards?+
Yes — Visa, Mastercard and most major cards. Minimum card swipe is 300 MTS. We follow Mozambican banking regulations, so older USD/EUR notes (1, 2, 5, 10) and pre-2006 dollar notes cannot be exchanged.
Is the water safe to drink?+
Tap water at the lodge is filtered, but we provide complimentary bottled water in every room and at the restaurant. Outside the lodge we recommend sticking to bottled water.
Do you accommodate dietary requirements?+
Yes — our menu has a dedicated vegan, lactose- and gluten-free section, and our chef is happy to adapt for allergies. Please flag any requirements at booking or on arrival.
Is the lodge child-friendly?+
Absolutely. We have a Family Suite, kid-friendly menus, beach activities and games. Children under 6 stay free when sharing with adults; under 12 receive 50% off accommodation rates.
What currency do you accept?+
We accept Mozambican Meticais (MTS), USD, ZAR and credit cards. Rates change daily — we publish a board at reception.
